Fruit Juice Subscription

You’ve read, seen and heard a lot about how healthy fresh juice is – including from us – and how a fresh juice subscription will offer you access to all kinds of health benefits. But which ones specifically? And do different fresh juices offer different health benefits?

The answer to that last question, is yes, to a certain degree. And while we offer an ever-growing range of options for our fresh juice subscriptions – and at the juice bars in our three London cafes, Pearl Lemon Café, Pearl Lemon Boba and How Matcha – we find that some are more popular than others, often those that people have been advised have specific benefits to offer them.

Free Radicals. Antioxidants, Juice? What Does It All Mean?

You’ll often hear that fresh juices contain lots of antioxidants and that these substances are a big part of why fresh juice is so good for your health. You’ll also hear a lot about free radicals and that juice can defeat them if they are threatening your health.

People are often confused by what free radicals are and how they can hurt you. Or how the antioxidants found in lots of fresh juices can help. Without getting too boring and technical, a quick basic chemistry lesson can help.

Oxygen-containing molecules with an unbalanced number of electrons are known as free radicals. They can easily interact with other molecules because of this unequal number. Free radicals can produce lengthy chemical chains in your body because they interact with other molecules so quickly. These processes are referred to as oxidations. They might be advantageous to you, healthy or dangerous to it.

Antioxidants are compounds that are capable of giving an electron to a free radical while remaining stable themselves. The free radical is made to stabilize and become less reactive as a result.

When are free radicals bad? Quite a lot of the time. Your body goes through a natural and important process called oxidation, in which free radicals have a big part to play. But on the other hand, oxidative stress happens when there is an imbalance between the activity of free radicals and antioxidants.

Free radicals can assist in warding off viruses when they are functioning properly. But free radicals can begin harming the fatty tissue, DNA, and proteins in your body when there are more of them than can be controlled by antioxidants. Your body is largely composed of these things, thus any damage can eventually result in a wide range of illnesses, and oxidative stress is a factor in increasing the signs of aging.

Adding more antioxidants into your diet can keep those misbehaving free radicals in line. Doing so is further complicated by the fact that environmental changes have resulted in there being more free radicals in the surrounding air we live in, that are often absorbed by our skin.

Tasty, Fresh Fruit Juice Subscription We Think You Should Try

At Pearl Lemon Juice when we create fresh juice subscriptions for our customers we let them choose just which juices they would like to receive, how often they get them, and even if they would like to try one of our innovative fresh juice blends, either to get specific health benefits or just to experience some brand-new tastes.

But what if the only juice you can think of off the top of your head is that old standby, orange juice? What are some other options available that can make juicing with Pearl Lemon the tastiest and healthiest experience? There are, as we mentioned, lots, but here, to inspire you, is a look at some of our favourites (which also happen to be our fresh juice subscription customer’s top picks as well.

Acai Berry Juice

Small, circular berries called acai berries are produced by the acai palm tree.

The color of its delectable juice is a seductive rich purple and the taste is rather unique, offering a nice balance between sweet and tart.

Acai berries have gained a reputation as a super fruit as they contain (you guessed it) high levels of very beneficial antioxidants. Flavonoids, ferulic acid, and chlorogenic acid are three of the many antioxidants that acai juice is particularly high in.

A lower risk of heart disease and mental decline has been linked to diets high in these substances, and recent research indicates they can help with chronic inflammatory pain too.

Beet Juice

Beet Juice actually tastes a lot better than it sounds, and if you want to add something sweet at Pearl Lemon we’ll be happy to create a juice blend for your fresh juice subscription that does just that.

But there are some very good reasons to add beet juice to your juicing ‘menu’. Dietary nitrates and betalains, which are both abundant in beet juice, are linked to a reduced risk of heart disease and other chronic diseases. Additionally, it contains a lot less sugar than other juices.

Cranberry Juice

This crisp, tart juice is well known for its apparent ability to help ward off UTIs, as well as relieve some of the painful symptoms of one that’s already taken hold. There is even formal scientific research to back this up, with a recent US study finding that cranberry juice  consumption reduced the chance of developing a UTI by 32.5 percent.

A high concentration of antioxidants in this juice, such as anthocyanins, flavonols, procyanidins, and vitamins C and E, may also help shield your cells from harm brought on by free radicals (those pests again.)

Tomato Juice

Not only is tomato juice a vital component in Bloody Marys, but it is also a delicious and healthful beverage on its own.

Because of its culinary use, the tomato is often thought of as a vegetable, but it is actually a fruit. Due to its flavour and low sugar level, tomato juice is still categorized as a vegetable juice by many people. But whatever you want to call it, tomato juice is a great addition to any Pearl Lemon Juice fresh juice subscription.

Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps the body absorb iron and maintains the health of the skin and immune system, is particularly abundant in tomato juice.

Additionally, lycopene, a carotenoid and antioxidant that gives tomatoes their red color, is found in abundance in tomato juice. Your risk of heart disease and stroke may be reduced by lycopene. For instance, one study found a 13 percent lower risk of heart disease when lycopene intake was increased.

Pomegranate Juice

Due to its nutritional advantages, pomegranate juice has grown in popularity in recent years. Additionally, it brightens your day with a burst of colour and a crisp, refreshing taste.

Anthocyanins, potent antioxidants that give pomegranates their deep, dark red color, are abundant in pomegranate juice. Additionally, the juice has a lot of vitamin K, which is crucial for bone and heart health.

Green Juice

Green vegetable juices are used to make the beverage known as “green juice.” It’s become super popular in recent years and you’ve probably seen it all over social media, especially Instagram, being touted by models, movie stars and fitness gurus as the ultimate in fresh juice.

Although there isn’t a set recipe, typical components include cucumber, parsley, mint, Swiss chard, Swiss chard, kale, and wheatgrass.

Most of our recipes use modest amounts of fruit, which may or may not be green, to sweeten and increase the overall palatability of green juice because it frequently tastes bitter. Apples, berries, kiwis, lemons, oranges, and grapefruit are a few common fruit possibilities but in reality we can add whatever you like.

The most devoted green juice drinkers like freshly made juice, such as the juice we provide in our fresh juice subscription. This is advantageous for several reasons.

Commercial green juices are also available, however some of them include added sugar, which lowers the beverage’s nutrient density and is generally bad.

In addition, a lot of green juice has been pasteurized. By heating the juice, unwanted bacteria are killed, and the shelf life is increased, but some of the heat-sensitive essential, and very beneficial, nutrients and plant components present in fresh juice are harmed. Our green juice is never heated or processed, just delivered right to your door at its optimal freshness level.
